Fooled???

Image
Yeah I know it’s rather too late to talk about fools but still couldn’t resist writing one. How many of you went around fooling people??? Those were the days when we used to plan for the whole week to fool some one on April 1st and now... I hardly remembered the day when my friend sent a usual birthday SMS that gets forwarded. Not just us there was Google too playing jokes on us. The gmail paper was one such joke. Even I didn’t notice it. It was my friend who pointed out to me. I think he got fooled...He...He... Gmail promised it customers that it would print the hard copy of your mails and deliver it to your home. Even the attachments like photos would be printed on a on high-quality, glossy photo paper, and secured to your Gmail Paper with a paper clip. And to make it look true, gmail spoke about the environment “Gmail Paper is made out of 96% post-consumer organic soybean sputum, and thus, actually helps the environment. For every Gmail Paper we produce, the environment gets increme...

When Shilpa could why didn’t Doctors reach!!!!

Gotcha…. It’s about the same fact. When a simple [Ok bad adjective...Agreed] but cute actress of Indian film industry enrolled into an event faced racial discrimination, it hit headlines, but why did we leave poor doctors in Britain unnoticed? Just because she is Shilpa Shetty and they are just doctors? That’s really sad. Thousands of foreign doctors who came to Britain to work in the National Health Service could be forced home, after the London High Court backed the government's controversial decision to change the rules on immigration. And the new law was called “Highly Skilled Migrant Programme”. Hospitals must prove that vacant posts could not be filled by British or European Union practitioners before they recommend foreign doctors for work permits. Will I ever say that my citizens are not worth enough and please send me some people to serve my country??? The court found that the government's new points system, which disregards any previous UK work experience and does not...

The Lost Paradise - Kashmir

Cradled in the lap of majestic mountains of the Himalayas, Kashmir is the most beautiful place on earth. On visiting the Valley of Kashmir, Jehangir, one of the Mughal emperors, is said to have exclaimed: "If there is paradise anywhere on earth, it is here, it is here, it is here." Kashmir has a myth and history, language and literature, art and architecture, culture and tradition, and religion and ritual that is distinct, yet similar to the civilization of the Indian subcontinent. In this once happy valley with its peace-loving and crime-free people, Buddhism reached the zenith of its glory, Hinduism extended its philosophical frontiers into Shaivism and Shaktism, and Islam achieved a new meaning and practice in its tradition of Sufism. And, till very, very recent times it was paradise on earth. But now the paradise has been turned into hell. Jammu & Kashmir, the Crown of India has few interesting facts. I have just listed them. A state having 2 capitals. Srinagar as its...

The Boy who cried Wolf!!!Wolf!!!!

You remember the story???? Ok don’t gimme an expression like “Don’t be a ninny”. Agreed!!! You people did study well in KG’s. This was some experience I had in 2 different situations. I was staying at my uncle’s place for a week. That was a huge colony with 270 flats in them. A well equipped security system, security personnel (He is paid for having a comfortable sleep without his wife’s nagging) and what else to be secure. Now….. One lazy afternoon there was deafening noise in the corridor. I mistook that as some toy’s noise. But after some time, I heard a lot of commotion below. Just gave a peep and saw half of the people rushing down the stairs yelling “Fire Alarm”. Ohhh My God!!! That brought me back to senses. And asked my aunt to just lock the wooden door and come out. After hauling down 6 floors in rush, the security person told us very calmly( to my irritation) that it was some circuit problem and electricians are working on it. To worse, the lifts won’t work until the problem ...

To Mahabs on a rainy day.

Image
I dunno what normally they call people who go to Mahabs in a day when North West Monsoon is at its best here; but I would have called them mad. And that was what I told my mom when she told me about Mahabs trip. I barked at her when she asked me to join with them. “ No way, Moving around in Mahabs in such a slushy day is not possible”. And the reason for me saying NO was because I thought none of people will be of my category. But luckily mom’s friends brought their kids too. My mom and her friends were giving their treat for their retiremen t. So it was arranged that a maxicab can be used to pick all of us from their respective places and go to Mahabs. We started off to Mahabs by 8:30. Reached Crocodile Park and roamed around for another 1 hour. Then had a sumptuous breakfast and went to Mahabs. Then started walking down the rocks starting from the Arjuna's penance to butter ball, Lighthouse, temple and then to five rathas. It’s after many years I am going there. My last visit w...

To prioritize or Not to; thats the question

A professor stood before his Philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “yes”. The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. “ Now,” said the professor, as the laughter subsided, “I want you to recognize that t...

Bye bye Trivandrum

We imagined; all the places we can roam about, the new environment, the lush greenery, soft water and good looking Kerala guys. Sighhhhhhhhh. All these imaginations went down the drain. My training date has been preponed to 13th November and training center has been changed from Trivandrum to Coimbaotre. Just for the sake of 10 days I lost all the above said good things :-( Again settled back in TamilNadu. Till now we kept ourselves updating details about Trivandrum training center, the process is just in beginning state with Coimbatore. And the worse case is that this information came to us right after the day we booked tickets to Trivandrum. Now again had to cancel them and get tickets to Coimbatore. Hope Coimbatore turns out interesting atleast to some extent.

Malayalam-too tough

Aahaaaa…..Finally got something to post about. Was suffering from writer’s block... he.. hee.he. Spent a few days at my granny’s place with net access denied and got back home just this weekend. Now when I am back to blogsville something has taken back my writing skills. Thought too much about what to post and my mom could see a smoke coming through my ears. Now getting back to topic. Since I had no special work to carry on I was ransacking my shelves to find some good old books to read. My hands fell on a book and it was my Malayalam book. When my exams got over I was bent on making mom help me learn Malayalam. That turned out to be a disaster. Though I am a malayalee, being born and brought up in Chennai is the only reason I can’t read and write my mother tongue. That’s a shame. I wanted to learn before I reach trivandrum for my training at TCS. So with the same vigor I bought a book to help me, since mom had certain confusion with new version and started learning the alphabets. Afte...

Can't female be drivers?????

The day before Onam I went to C.A.R.S India to get my car serviced. This time I decided won’t leave the car there and have things changed according to their wish. It was their business tactics to send a huge bill home. So gave the mechanic a list of things I wanted them to check. He barely gave attention to what I told. I wanted him to change the coolant and I told that thrice to get his attention to it. Then he gave me Pooh-these-lady-drivers kinda look. Sat there for 3 hours and finally they brought me a huge bill as usual. I asked about coolant once again and he told me he knows about cars much better than me. How cheeky. "Wait till something goes wrong, will take care of you then" I thought but mumbled a thanks and left. And to his bad luck and mine too; car’s air condition stopped working when I was returning back from Granny’s place. When I checked up the things found that the coolant was not changed. Just added up some amount of water and had to drive back home without...

The Jaya TV’s news report “கலைஞரின் கைŕ®®ாŕ®±ு “ about the connections between Nalini, the main accused in Rajiv Gandhi Assassination and DMK leader was a gud job by the reporters. Leaving behind the political factors the fact that made me write this blog- Nalini. May 21st 1991[My parent’s wedding Anniversary]; the day dawned with news reporting about cruel death of Rajiv Gandhi. The LTTE’s first trial to kill our Prime Minister at Airport failed and Thenmuli Rajaratnam A.K.A Dhanu the suicide bomber succeeded to accomplish that in Chennai. Nalini and Murugan were at Chennai to get information about the movements and the plans. When the Jain’s commission submitted the report, all the 26 accused, including five women, have been sentenced to death in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court Special Judge V Navaneetham also held the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and its supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran responsible for the assassination. ...

A start towards politics…..

Image
As far as we have heard, youngsters with political background were the only so-called-youth expected in politics. It has been a very famous group discussion topic “Youth in politics “. But now it may be time to put youth in politics. A party made of youngsters and filled with their energy-LokParitran party. Heard of this name??? Yeah …This name at present appears in all channels, messages and papers. The IIT’ians has come forward to bring educated people into politics. The party is contesting in many places in Chennai at Assembly polls including Chepauk where the LokParitran contestant is taking on DMK chief. The party at present works with 200 volunteers and 750 members almost half of them from IT industries and students. The party national president Tanmay believes there is non-zero probability to win the elections. With just 2 parties in Chennai and public disinterested with both of them ,a third party which can prove itself worthy will certainly have a great future. B...

GH, Chennai-600003

Is it General hospital or Govt: Hospital or (Gorgeous, gratuitous recovery provider, genius doctors, good enough facilities) hospital????? I visited GH today and was astonished at itz clean and healthy environment. All private hospitals stand no-where near this one. The treatment given here is almost free for low-income group. The patient whom I visited was in his convalescence period after an important operation. The total amount he paid for the period of 2 days is just Rs 40/-. It would not be the same in any private hospitals. The place looks spic & span and even if there is anything thats becuase of our people's actions. The place is visited by lakhs of people and it requires a solid working hours to keep that clean. The real history of GH is like this:It is perhaps the country's first hospital was set up over 300 years ago in Chennapatna, now Chennai. It was Governor Edward Winter who set up that hospital at Fort. St. George, for the British residents. On October 15,...

Ur photo is rejected!!!

“Stop!!! Your photo is rejected as you are smiling in it.” Have you ever heard of this line? Or is it new to you? Then hear this. This is a RULE in U.K. Your passport size photos are rejected in UK just because you are smiling in it. Around 15,000 photos are rejected in a short duration because of this rule. "The subject's expression should be neutral [non-smiling] with both eyes open, and mouth closed," says a rule cited in the rejection of a visa photograph of a tooth-showing person. When it comes to some U.S. government photos, smiling is frowned upon. But most people won't know they're not supposed to smile unless they visit the U.S. State Department's Web site and read the lengthy set of instructions for photographs, including colors permitted for the background, proper lighting, directions for eye height, head orientation, and the necessary "natural expression" with no squinty eyes or flashing teeth. The reason they specify for these instructi...
