Where else will this happen!!!!
The Jaya TV’s news report “கலைஞரின் கைமாறு “ about the connections between Nalini, the main accused in Rajiv Gandhi Assassination and DMK leader was a gud job by the reporters. Leaving behind the political factors the fact that made me write this blog- Nalini.
May 21st 1991[My parent’s wedding Anniversary]; the day dawned with news reporting about cruel death of Rajiv Gandhi. The LTTE’s first trial to kill our Prime Minister at Airport failed and Thenmuli Rajaratnam A.K.A Dhanu the suicide bomber succeeded to accomplish that in Chennai. Nalini and Murugan were at Chennai to get information about the movements and the plans.
When the Jain’s commission submitted the report, all the 26 accused, including five women, have been sentenced to death in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court Special Judge V Navaneetham also held the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and its supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran responsible for the assassination. The judgement was appreciated by many Indians. I read about the judgement and about breaking the pen in conformity with court tradition involving death sentence. I was happy atleast for once we were able to provide the right judgement.
But the politicians [read: Sonya Gandhi] just to gain the sympathy agreed with the mercy petition of Nalini. Mercy should have a meaning. The Prime Minister of our country was assassinated by rebels of another country and here we stand speaking about democracy and being kind to the accused. It was India’s pride and stand that was brought to grounds. Nalini, the main accused in the assassination case is enjoying the prison life. A person responsible for death of the most dynamic, charismatic young prime minister should be hanged. Gandhi’an policy would have worked well but that was before independence and now the only way to stop such cruel action was to go with the punishment.
The mercy petition should not have been accepted as no mercy is required for the people who assassinated our PM. Now Nalini enjoying the prison life and attending marriages in parole and her daughter gets the best education that the state can give. Where else will such things happen other than in India??????
