Back Again!!!!
Back again to form.... After lots of unimportant but unavoidable work around, here I am back to this world. Now started working in full swing in office. So all TCS'ians, please do tell me how you keep blogging, when all the sites are being blocked.
ILP- A session for transforming us to professionals was over by January 12th. And we were asked to report to Chennai office on 16th. With full expectations and excitement [obviously you know people like me are bit over enthusiastic] were there in office. The first shock that brought us to reality was when we were asked to stay away from the office blocks and asked to be either in cafeteria or in jogging track. Che…First day in office and cafeteria???? Wherein we were expecting some welcome speeches in a comfortable A/C conference room. Even then we didn’t let our spirits go down. At the end of long uneventful day, the whole lot of associates who were asked to report on that day were allotted to different branches in Chennai. So one major hurdle was over. I was posted to an office near my home. Good. I was in jitters about the long travel I will be taking if I am posted else where.
So the next day, with some excitement [as half of it was drained the day before, in cafeteria] we reported to the office. We walked in sand, looking forward dark expanse. No.. No.. I am not putting in any similes here. The office was located in such a dusty and isolated place. The whole imagination I had about IT offices was thrashed. A posh looking office, clean environment, dirt less office parking area…… Oops!!!! Pucca muddy roads, all the trees were brown in color, and cars parked were covered with dust. Again a shock!!!
Now with no eagerness to go in, we reported. They showed us a conference room which became our office for another 10 days. There the first day we were informed that we will be in this conference room for some more days as they need time to find projects for us [ [I know its difficult to find project of our level, but still we will adjust with any project ] so that we don't develop any wrong notion of being put into project immediately. So another 10 days we spent in cafeteria, conference room and library[No.. No…No wrong intentions…. just to read news papers and browse net]. We invented lots of games and spent time talking all nonsense.
Then after lots of nagging from us[We kept on visiting the HR’s cubicle every morning, afternoon and evening to remind them our faces and tell them we are unallocated. he.. he..] we were allocated into project. Great!!! I came to know I am linked to some project and the same day we were ushered into another conference room[How badly I hate conference rooms]. Luckily by god’s grace, we spent just 2 days there with some "Induction into project" kinda classes and allocated into modules.
To add to these problems our access cards weren’t there. So at every door, tail gating or requesting someone else to open them were worse situations.
After all these hurdles, I am settled with a cubicle and system just this week. Aren’t these reasons enough for me to justify my absence????
