Kerala Trip

Day 1: Started off by 4:00 AM in the morning and reached Guruvayoor by 7:30 PM. We took many breaks to reduce the stiffness and for lunch, tea. Driving through Kerala was the most difficult part as the drivers there were rash. We were in a dilemma about the trip as it was raining heavily in Kerala but to our luck there was no rain and so driving through small lanes of Kerala was not a problem

Day 2: Guruvayoor was less crowded and had darshan twice. Started from there to native- Chelakara [Trissur] by 3:00 PM and the drive were wonderful with lush green forests on both sides and winding roads. Reached relative’s place and had hot tea and walked around 4 kms to my ancestral home. Quite a dilapidated place! Full of rubber trees and weeds! A gardener would have to toil hard to make that place livable. The walk was through thotu varambu [A walkway on the banks of rivulet] I really enjoyed the walk. Mom got sentimental and she was showing me the ground and places she spent her summer vacations. We reached back home and had a solid keralite dinner with the motta rice.[Boiled rice- Kerala special] The whole place gets dark by evening 5'O clock, so spent half of the time outside sitting in the porch watching the fauna.

Day 3: We went to family deity temple. Normally all family ancestral homes will have a kavu [A small temple] at the end of their kandam [The farms] These small kavu is taken as the family deity and so when the property gets divided the temple is given separate premises and given to Devasom board. So such a temple it was. Still the family people will be having special attention over there. I really enjoyed the importance given there. Then came to Trissur town and did some shopping and returned back home.

Day 4: Trip got over and we bid good bye to Chelakara by 6:30 morning. Drive was too good.The total distance we traveled was around 1550 kms and I drove through three main highways NH-45, NH-68 and NH-47. Kudos to Indian Highways!!!I reached back home by 9:00.

hmmm... firstly, am very glad that u returned back without injuring anyone on d road with ur driving skills... hehe...

hey, btw, seems like it was really an awesome trip... if possible, try visiting some more places before u join TCS... else, believe me, its a hectic task to plan for such tours anymore...

also, Janani, ur writing skills r improving blog by blog... Nice narration... Short, sweet & crispy...

Freedom at Midnight

Till date I never read a book consecutively twice. But I had to; in this case. When I completed reading the book first time I was too lost in facts to miss the emotions. I felt hatred, devotion, anger and a confused feeling towards British, Indian Leaders, Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Gandhi in that order. I was surprised how little I knew about my mother land. Malayalam-too tough

Aahaaaa…..Finally got something to post about. Was suffering from writer’s block... he.. hee.he. Spent a few days at my granny’s place with net access denied and got back home just this weekend. Now when I am back to blogsville something has taken back my writing skills. Thought too much about what to post and my mom could see a smoke coming through my ears. Now getting back to topic. Since I had no special work to carry on I was ransacking my shelves to find some good old books to read. My hands fell on a book and it was my Malayalam book. When my exams got over I was bent on making mom help me learn Malayalam. That turned out to be a disaster. Though I am a malayalee, being born and brought up in Chennai is the only reason I can’t read and write my mother tongue. That’s a shame. I wanted to learn before I reach trivandrum for my training at TCS. So with the same vigor I bought a book to help me, since mom had certain confusion with new version and started learning the alphabets. Afte
