The new trend in Chennai, a valid reason to buy gold, a method to invest money before the prices increases-the other reasons given to this festive. The jewellers keep introducing many offers like price reduction, advance booking and what not for this festive. How many of you know the real reason behind this festival?????

This festival is celebrated by two important religious groups.

Akshaya tritiya or Akshaya Trutiya Festival is a very well known festival and popular festival of Jain peoples of India. Akshya tritiya festival is celebrate on the third month of the Vaishakha. The Bhagwan Rishabdev performed the Parana (completion of an austerity) on the day of akshya tritiya after fasting for one year continuously. Many people perform the austerity of Varsity complete the austerity on this day by taking sugar cane juice in the cool shadow of Shatrunjay. Akshaya tritiya festival is observed in April month in each year. On the day of Akshya tritiya sugar-cane juice is mostly offered to those person who have observed various types of fasts and vartas through out the year.

In case of Hindus, Akshaya Tritiya, the third day of the bright half of Chithirai, is considered one of the foremost sacred day of the year. The word Akshaya means that which never diminishes, hence beginnings made or valuables bought on this day are considered certain to bring luck and success. All over India people celebrate weddings, plan new business ventures, purchase gold, long journeys and other events on this day. Akshaya Tritiya is traditionally the birthday of Parshurama, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. It has references to the a bowl (Akshaya Pathram) had been given to Draupati by Lord Krishna, with the help of which she was able to serve food to the Pandavas.

A start towards politics…..

As far as we have heard, youngsters with political background were the only so-called-youth expected in politics. It has been a very famous group discussion topic “Youth in politics “. But now it may be time to put youth in politics. A party made of youngsters and filled with their energy-LokParitran party.

Heard of this name??? Yeah …This name at present appears in all channels, messages and papers. The IIT’ians has come forward to bring educated people into politics. The party is contesting in many places in Chennai at Assembly polls including Chepauk where the LokParitran contestant is taking on DMK chief. The party at present works with 200 volunteers and 750 members almost half of them from IT industries and students. The party national president Tanmay believes there is non-zero probability to win the elections. With just 2 parties in Chennai and public disinterested with both of them ,a third party which can prove itself worthy will certainly have a great future.

But there are many doubts in the mind of public that is when it comes to experience and techniques these party men lack information. Their promises are simple like-good goverence, transparency, accessibility and freedom from corruption, but compared to rice at Rs.2/-, free gas stove when it comes to general public the former promises sounds useless. The party made of in-experienced youths need lots of convincing and valid points to save their deposit. But still any one contestant’s victory will bring in a huge chance of improvement in the party’s public image. But anyway it was their party ideology that attracts me.

Let’s hope that these young bloods in politics do bring in a change in the political system and ALL THE BEST for them.

വിഷു ആശംസകള്‍ [Vishu ashamsagal]

With only 2 festivals to celebrate, blogging about them would be right way to do justice to them. വിഷൂ is the first mallu festival that is coming after I started blogging. It is celebrated in first day in the Malayalam month of Medam. Vishu is unique. This is a symbol of the unostentatious Malayalee and so Vishu is free from the usual pomp and show and merry-making associated with other festivities. This occasion signifies the Sun's transit to the zodiac Mesha Mesha Raasi as per Indian astrological calculations.

The festival is marked with offerings to the divine called Vishukanni. The kani-kanal is the main event of the day. The night before Vishu, the mistress of the house prepare the kani. We believe that the fortunes for the year depend upon the nature of the object one sees first in the morning of Vishu Day. So preparation is everything! Raw rice is put in a circular bell-metal vessel known as 'Uruli' and over it a folded newly washed cloth is spread. A golden colored cucumber, betel leaves, betel nuts, metal mirror, yellow flowers of Konna tree (cassia fistula -phew what a lot of search it took me to find this botanical name!!!!), a Grandha (book of palm leaves) and a few gold coins are then placed over the cloth in the vessel. Then some oil is put into two coconut halves, a few wicks are lit and this illuminates the goodies inside. A metal lamp filled with coconut oil is kept burning by the side of the vessel as well. Behind the uruli, a mirror and the garlanded deity of Krishna is kept. Around the deity, lighted lamps will be arranged. A lighted bell metal lamp called nilavilakku is also placed alongside. . Early morning on the Vishu day, the master of the house sees the Kani and then the rest of the family follows. Children's are brought blind-folded from their beds to where the Kani is kept.

The people wear new clothes (kodi vastram) for the occasion and the elders of the family distribute tokens of money to the children, servants and tenants. These tokens are called the Vishukaineetam ( handsel) and are usually in form of coins. The eldest member of the family takes some silver coins and gives them to a junior member with some raw rice and Konna flower. This is repeated in the case of other members and they in turn give such handsel to their juniors, relatives, servants etc People carry on this custom believing that in this way, their children will be blessed with prosperity in future.

Finally the Farewell……..

To start with a usual cliché…..The first day of my college life still remains fresh in heart.105 minutes of bus journey to just reach college sounded too long duration to travel and that too everyday. The initial phases of college days traveling exhausted me to core and time I spent at home was just not enough to renew my energy. The classes, notes and mid semester exams were dealt with seriously. [After all I am fresh to the so-called-college life] The first Achiever’s day function at college where hogging is the only serious business of concern and returning late to home by 12:00 reminds me how childish I was.

The college has given me many new experiences and lots of new friends. Hailing from a totally different environment college did show me many faces of life. The time we spent rehearsing for the college day performances and cultural function and the hungama we made those days are quite memorable. Not to leave the department symposiums where we came to know many new people. The pre-final year tour was the first time my people allowed me to go for a tour as such. The midnight birthday parties, surprise gifts and smearing cakes on faces were something I read in books. But all those were brought live in college.

The things that are still unlisted includes small fights, misunderstandings, crushes, teasing, the excitement for wearing saree to college first time, the symposiums and lots more to mention here.

The 4 years of life just flew by with practicals, Industrial Visits and University exams. Now it’s time to leave the wonderful campus and people over there. The last working day was also something different from what I expected. And now it’s farewell day tomorrow. Mega plans are being devised and expecting them to work well. The college life was fully a pucca one and any other chances to be college cannot be the same with careless days, roaming with friends and with this funda life. Anyway to stop rewinding days let me get back to work ……

Farewell

Now with farewell day coming around the corner I got this mail and thought it would suit the situation very well.
Gone are the days of Sports Day and the annual School Day and the one-month long preparations for them.
Gone are the days of the stressful Quarterly, Half Yearly and Annual Exams and the most enjoyed holidays after them!
Gone are the days of tenth and twelfth standards, when we spent almost the whole year writing revision tests!
Gone are the days when we used to talk for hours with our friends!
Now we don't have time to say a `Hi'!
Gone are the days when we played games on the road!
Now we code on the road with laptop!
Gone are the days when we saw stars shining at Night!
Now we see stars when our code doesn't work!
Gone are the days when we sat to chat with Friends on grounds!
Now we chat in chat rooms.....!
Gone are the days where we studied just to pass!
Now we study to save our job!
Gone are the days where we had no money in our pockets and still fun filled on our hearts!!
Now we have the ATM as well as credit card but with an empty heart!!
Gone are the days where we shouted on the road!
Now we don't shout even at home.
Gone are the days where we got lectures from all!
Now we give lectures to all... like the one I'm doing now....!!
Gone are the days but not the memories, which will be lingering in our hearts for ever and ever and ever and ever and ever .....

We learnt,
We enjoyed,
We played,
We won,
We lost,
We laughed,
We cried,

We fought,
We thought.
With so much fun in them, so many friends,
So much experience, all this and more!

Gone are the Days.... But still there are lot more Days to come in our Life!!

NO MATTER HOW BUSY YOU ARE,

DONT FORGET TO

LIVE THE LIFE WITH ALL YOU LOVE

LIFE STILL EXISTS.....
